Students Creating Entertainment
for Neighborhood Empowerment.

SCENE combines prevention education with the art of filmmaking. Participating teens are exploring local alcohol and other drug issues in East Portland and partnering with their peers to create three documentaries. A fourth film, created by prevention advocates and Portland police, with key input from youth and community members, will focus on the area around 162nd Avenue and East Burnside Street, with the goal of creating a healthier, safer community.

The four films, which will premiere in September, have exciting practical applications, raising public awareness and being used by officers as part of community policing efforts in east Portland.
