R. 1424 requires group health plans that currently offer coverage for mental health and substance use disorders to provide those benefits in the same manner as benefits provided to all other medical and surgical procedures covered under the plan. Everyone working in this field and anyone in recovery from addiction needs to lend their energy and support to the passing of this bill. Marin Institute Helping Take Big Alcohol Brands out of Your CommuteIs your daily commute polluted with ads for beer, liquor and wine? Are logos for "Big Alcohol" brands plastered all over your local bus stations, train cars or outdoor platforms? The Marin Institute, a leading alcohol industry watchdog, wants to hear all about it, and they will help expose this shameful practice. Millions of students ride public transit every day. Some cities, like Seattle and San Francisco, have recognized the need to protect young riders from exposure to alcohol advertising by barring such ads on public transit. Other cities have policies that are not being enforced while some, like New York City, allow alcohol ads. The Marin Institute is researching the advertising policies of major public transit agencies around the nation, but they can’t do it alone.
