Drug Deaths in Oregon on the RiseOregon State Medical Examiner Dr. Karen Gunson released drug-related death statistics for 2007 reflecting a continuing rise since 1999 and the third highest number of these deaths since 1997. The statistics showed a sharp increase in Heroin-related deaths while Methamphetamine and Cocaine-related deaths dropped in comparison to last year's figures. Oregon Partnership's YouthLine is looking for volunteers to staff our peer counseling, crisis, and referral line for teens. If you are a 15-18 year old high school student interested in making a difference in the lives of teens in Oregon and meeting other great youth from schools in the metro area, we’d love to hear from you. Harding, a former New York state addiction official, has been named the new Director of the federal Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP). Harding, previously the associate commissioner of the Division of Prevention and Recovery in the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, will take over as head of CSAP in July.
